BANNERS OF LIGHT

There is an internatuional tradition spanning a number of belief systems from Korean spiritism on through medieval European Christianitry and Hindu pageant that the performance of plays with a "miracle" theme in which a wandering monk or poet meets severe temptation from wicked spirits and then escapes and/or a wanderer or disguised prince in danger is assisted in a miraculous escape by ancestral spirits. In some traditions, the players are thought to bring healing and good luck and also tell fortunes for the assembled crowd.
It is interesting that effects to the digital camera taking snapshots during this short play have an attractively wierd color distortion and that the first frame in the short series--for the festival play was only thirteen minutes long--is inexplicably abstract, like banners of light. This effect was not due to motion of the camera as the shoulder of the spectator on the right is clearly seen in detail.

A wandering minstral (actor James Kraft) is alerted to a wierd & seductive fairy (actress Nancy Irene Kelly)-L) by a mysterious beggar (actress Elena Hurst)who claims she was once Queen of Norway. But the beggar also wants his guitar. He does not give it away.

from the Minstral's End Song
"This harp's all I've got
And my soul is my own
And if you've no soul
You should leave mine alone "
